California Legal Tint?

We get questioned all the time if it is illegal to tint the front windows on our vehicles.  We definitely do not any of our customer in trouble with the law but the truth is, tinting the front driver and passenger windows is 100% legal!!!  According to the California window tinting law your front driver and passenger door windows must have a minimum of 70% visible light transmission (VLT) with or without film. Most cars have a very slight factory tint integrated into the glass (approx.12% shading/88% VLT) which is useless against the heat spectrum or harmful UV rays.  Clear, colorless window films may be installed for the sole reason of reducing ultra violet rays. 3M Crystalline 75% is within the legal limit and provides the highest UV protection and heat rejection of today's window films. Though it looks clear, it's nanolayering technology allows it to block more of the sun's heat than some darker, tinted films.

Ask as about 3M's Crystalline film today!

Twitter @eliteautofilms

We've had this Twitter account for a while now. And just as we've had this blog for a while we could be using it more to keep our customers and fans updated.  For our mid-year 2011 resolution. We will strive to keep up on our social media for those who care.
For the moment we have 1 follower, lets try to have at least 10 by the end of July.  Lets make it interesting and say the next 5 followers get 20 percent off a standard clear bra package or window tint for themselves or a friend.
Thank you all. Have a great rest of the weekend.

Custom Cut vs Kit Installations

We get calls asking if we our standard installation are custom cut or if we use a kit.

We do both!!!

For most vehicles, kits which we cut for your vehicle fit very well.  Kits allow us to provide excellent installations in a shorter amount of time than when performing bulk or "custom" installations.
If you own a late model (newer) vehicle and have not performed any modifications to your bodywork.  You will be happy with our kit installation.

Some shops out there swear by their custom hand cut jobs and say kits do not cover as well.  They may be reffering to the older kits from older kit designers for older cars. Yes, these old kits had huge gaps in coverage, many of them did not even cover wheel to wheel on the bumpers.  Kit designs have come a long way since then.  The top kit designers employ a large staff who work directly with automobile manufacturers to make sure clear bra kits are available for new model vehicles with excellent fit and coverage.

Bulk or custom installation involve using a blade to trim off excess material as the bulk sheet of film is stretched and molded onto the vehicle.  For an experienced installer, using a blade on the vehicle carry's a very low risk.  Special blades offer the installer a feel for the film and scoring just the top layer of film so it can be torn does not damage the paint.  "Bulking" a vehicle does take significantly longer than using a kit so a premium price is normally added for these installations.

Bulk installations are reserved now for those who have custom body panels or want coverage which isn't part of the standard protection package.

Care For Clear Bra

You've invested in the finest method of protection for your vehicles paint and while it was designed to be as unobtrusive to the your vehicle owning lifestyle as possible, the clear bra material you just purchase does need some care to keep it looking fresh and able to do it's job.

Here are some recommendations:

Wash your vehicle regularly.  Just as dirt left on paint can embed itself into the finish, it can embed itself into the film causing dulling and discoloration.

Wax or seal the film.  Here are some of our recommended sealants which are available at most automotive stores or auto departments.
 1) Meguires NXT
 2) Turtle Wax ICE Synthetic Wax
 3) Zymol Field Glaze

Sealants help keep the pores of the film from absorbing contaminants such as road tar, bug juice, bird droppings and environmental fallout. It makes the film easier to clean during your regular washes.

Remove bug stains and bird dropping immediately.  If you can, wash away these contaminants as soon as possible.  Bug stains eventually go away in the sun however bird droppings may be harsh enough to cause permanent damage to the topcoat of your paint protection film.

If you have any more questions about care. Please feel free to contact us.

Full Coverage Clear Bra?

Although the clear bra material we use is very clear and hardly noticeable. Many of our customers opt to purchase the full hood or full fender options for the the clear bra on their vehicle.  Having the entire hood covered makes it so there is no visible line where the film ends.  Also, you won't have to worry about the rare rock chips that happened just inches above the partial hood wrap.  We are one of the few installers in the area that stock 60" wide paint protection film so should you decide on the ultimate, full coverage protection option. We've got you covered.
